Uniform Reminder
As we look forward to our pupils returning to school during the week commencing Monday 8th March 2021 we will be expecting all pupils returning in their full uniform (including jumper).
At St Augustine’s we pride ourselves on the highest standards of uniform for all our pupils and appreciate the support of our parents and carers in maintaining these high standards. To ensure a smooth start to the term we respectfully remind you that all pupils should adhere to the uniform policy.
A reminder that this includes no: false tan; false nails; false eyelashes.
Hair should be one natural colour and not dyed. Inappropriate hairstyles (e.g. wedges, shaved sections, extensions, anything shorter than a Number 3 cut, hair covering the eyes) are unacceptable. Please see our uniform policy for further clarification.
If you need to purchase new uniform our three stockists are:
RVS Clitheroe – open each day until 4pm for click and collect (orders can be placed online or via the telephone).
Whittakers – Blackburn – online orders.

Single Use Bottles
As part of the school’s aim to reduce our environmental impact, we are phasing out the sale of single use plastic bottles in school and would encourage you to purchase a re-usable drinks bottle for next year, preferably a clear plastic one as these are the only type allowed in examinations. Please do not send glass bottles into school.
Nut Free School
Nut-Free School
Our school community has made a commitment to be a nut-free school for the safety and health of our students. Although we recognise that we cannot guarantee an environment that is completely free from any allergen, we believe that a nut free policy minimises the risk for pupils with nut allergies.
Food allergies can be fatal. Reactions can range from an irritating rash to life-threatening anaphylaxis, and it only requires a small amount of the allergen to set off symptoms. Click here for more information about anaphylaxis.
First aid staff in the school are trained to use Epi-pens (an injection of adrenalin) which are required immediately if there is a serious reaction. However, to minimise the risk of an allergic reaction we cannot have nuts in school in any form.
We need every student, teacher and parent to help us make St Augustine’s a safer place for students who have food allergies.
So please do not put any nut products in your child’s lunch box.
We also cannot allow items such as Celebrations, Quality Street, Roses or Heroes as these include peanuts, hazelnuts and coconut in some of the selections.
There are many other products that can present a risk, so please look at the ingredients list of products closely. We appreciate that this is an additional thing to check but we know that you will recognise the importance of creating a safe environment.
St. Augustine’s school is an inclusive school where each student is valued. We respect the needs of ALL of our students, including those with allergies. Our nut-free policy allows students with food allergies to enjoy classroom and lunch time with their fellow students.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to speak to a member of staff.

Glasses Collection Appeal
COLLECTION CLOSED - Thank you for your kind donations.
St Augustine's, in conjunction with Whalley District Lions' Club, are collecting glasses (old or new) to donate to developing countries. The gift of vision can have a life-changing impact on young and old alike and we are hoping to collect as many pairs of glasses as we can.
Please ask your parents, families and carers to have a look around the house for any unwanted glasses, no matter what condition. We will pass them to the Whalley and District Lions’ Club, who will get them to the people who need them most.
