St Augustine’s RC High School is an outstanding Catholic school.
The Catholic life of the school is inspiring and is at its strongest in the exemplary relationships
between staff and pupils and the excellent care staff give to all pupils,
especially the vulnerable and potentially marginalised.

Section 48 Inspection 2019

Parents and carers are overwhelmingly and strongly supportive of the school.
The school has an excellent reputation locally. As a result it is heavily oversubscribed.

865 Bus service information '23

Express Travel NW, who operate the 856 service have reported overloading problems on the 856 service.

The main issue is that there are a number of pupils without travel passes trying to get on the bus and pay a fare. Unfortunately there is only limited space for fare paying passengers, 11 seats essentially. Therefore the driver has been instructed to only allow 11 fare paying pupils on the bus, as the remaining seats are required for pupils with travel passes and season tickets.

If parents want to ensure that their child can catch the service, they are advised to purchase a season ticket as these will be prioritised ahead of fare paying passengers. Season tickets can be applied for online here:School transport - Lancashire County Councilor Tel: 0300 123 6738

Online Safety

Parents' Digital Safety & Wellbeing Kit

The Internet offers today’s young people a multitude of opportunities for both work and play, and at St Augustines RC High school we are committed to ensuring that our students develop into positive digital citizens who can confidently and safely make use of new technologies. In school we do our part to keep our students safe by filtering and monitoring their Internet access and by giving online safety a high profile in assemblies and form-time activities. Of course, this focus is most effective when reinforced at home and the role that parents can play cannot be underestimated. Keeping open lines of communication with your children regarding the threats that may be encountered online is very important, and the resources below should equip you with the knowledge and understanding required to have these conversations.

Annual Parental Levy

Saint Augustine’s is one of over 200 schools belonging to the Diocese of Salford. Every year the Diocese is awarded a capital grant to help it modernise its schools. Funding for Catholic schools is different from those with no religious affiliation and such schools must meet 10% of any new building costs themselves, and this money is raised via the Annual Parental Levy. The Bishop of Salford has called on all parents to support the Levy and this year we are asking for £20 per pupil or £30 per family if more than one pupil attends. Please help us to share the burden fairly by making your contribution.

Your £20 donation is worth £200 to the school in real terms.
