Admissions

Admission to St Augustine's RCHS

All families are asked to complete the Supplementary Faith Form. If you wish your child to be considered as Roman Catholic under the admissions criteria, evidence (Baptismal Certificate or Certificate of Reception into the Catholic Church) must be provided along with this form. The completed form should be emailed (along with copies/photographs of any certificates) to info@sarchs.com

You must apply for a place based on your home address, not the location of the school.

School Places and Appeals

Families who are not successful in securing their chosen secondary school for their child, when notified in March, can opt to be included on a waiting list for Year 7 only which is maintained up to and including 31st December of the year of secondary school admission and /or begin the appeals process.

In Year Admissions

To apply for a place for current Years 7-11, families are asked to complete an in-year admission form (link) and return this to school alongside a copy of the pupil’s baptism certificate if the pupil is to be considered as Roman Catholic.

Your application will be acknowledged upon receipt and we will advise you of the outcome within a maximum of 15 school days by email, or by mail if requested.

Where the school is below the Pupil Admission Number for a particular year group, a place can be offered. Where places are available but there are ore applications than places, we will apply our over-subscription criteria as per the criteria for that year of entry.

Where the school is on or above the Pupil Admission Number, legally a place cannot be offered and families may choose to begin the appeal process. More information about this process can be found here.

Further information on how to apply for a local school can be found on the Lancashire County Council website: https://www.lancashire.gov.uk/children-education-families/schools/apply-for-a-school-place/changing-schools-during-the-school-year/

School Appeals

The Lancashire County Council Appeals Team administers appeals for academies, foundation, voluntary aided, free schools, community schools and voluntary controlled schools across Lancashire (St Augustine’s is a voluntary academy). The team organises the independent admission appeal panels and co-ordinates the appeals process in accordance with the School Admissions Appeals Code.

To appeal for a place at St Augustine's please complete the online form. The form should be completed with as much detail as possible and include any evidence that you may have to support your appeal.  The deadline for appeals for September 2024 is Tuesday 16th April 2024. The provisional dates for appeal hearings are 20th - 24th May 2024.

A copy of your form will be sent to school and a copy will also be sent to the email address you have included on your form for your own records.

If you are unable to fill in an Admissions Appeal form yourself due to a Disability or any Language Barrier you feel may compromise your submission then help is available from the Customer Service Centre who will be able to assist you in filling out the relevant form.

The decision of the Independent Appeal Panel is binding to all parties. The right of appeal against the Governors’ decision at St Augustine's does not prevent you from making an appeal in respect of any other school.

The contact number for the Customer Service Centre is 0300 123 6707.

Please note that both the Contact Centre staff and the School staff are unable to advise you of your submission and the Contact Centre staff are only able to fill the form out on your behalf.
